About the main performance of air compressor oil

Air compressor oil is mainly used for the lubrication of the moving parts of the compressor cylinder and the exhaust valve, and plays the role of rust prevention, corrosion prevention, sealing and cooling.

Because the air compressor has been in the environment of high pressure, high temperature and condensate water, the air compressor oil should have excellent high temperature oxidation stability, low carbon accumulation tendency, appropriate viscosity and viscosive-temperature performance, and good oil-water separation, rust prevention and corrosion resistance

Performance requirement

1. The quality of base oil should be high

Base oil of compressor oil can be divided into two categories: mineral oil type and synthetic oil type. The production of mineral oil compressor oil is generally through solvent refining, solvent dewaxing, hydrogenation or clay supplement refining process to obtain the base oil, and then add a variety of additives to blend.

The base oil of the compressor oil generally accounts for more than 95% of the finished oil, so the quality of the base oil is directly related to the quality level of the compressor oil product, and the quality of the base oil has a direct relationship with its refining depth. The base oil with deep refining depth has less heavy aromatics and gum content. The residual carbon is low, the sensitivity of the antioxidant is good, the quality of the base oil is high, it has a small tendency to accumulate carbon in the compressor system, the oil-water separation is good, and the service life is relatively long.

Synthetic oil type base oil is a lubricating oil made of organic liquid base oil obtained by chemical synthesis and then blended or added with a variety of additives. Most of its base oils are polymers or high molecular organic compounds. There are many kinds of synthetic oil, and the synthetic oil used as compressor oil mainly has five kinds of synthetic hydrocarbon (polyalpha-olefin), organic ester (double ester), Snott lubricating oil, polyalkylene glycol, fluorosilicone oil and phosphate ester. The price of synthetic oil compressor oil is much more expensive than that of mineral oil compressor oil, but the comprehensive economic benefit of synthetic oil still exceeds that of ordinary mineral oil. It has oxidation stability, small carbon accumulation tendency, can exceed the temperature range of ordinary mineral oil for lubrication, long service life, can meet the general mineral oil compressor oil can not withstand the use of requirements.

2. Narrow base oil fractions

The study on the working condition of compressor oil shows that improving the composition of base oil is the key factor to improve the quality of compressor oil. After the compressor oil synthesized by light and heavy components is injected into the compressor cylinder, the light components leave the working part in advance due to excessive volatility, which affects the lubrication effect, and the recombination components can not quickly leave the working part after completing the work task due to poor volatility, and are easy to form carbon deposits under the action of heat and oxygen over a long period of time. Therefore, under such conditions, the lubricating oil should be selected as a narrow fraction of the component oil, and should not be selected as a mixture of multiple fractions of the component oil.

No. 19 compressor oil is made of wide distillate oil containing a lot of residual components, and the amount of carbon accumulated in the compressor is large in use. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of compressor oil, the residual components in No. 19 compressor oil should be removed and narrow distillate base oil should be selected.

3. The viscosity should be appropriate

Under the condition of dynamic lubrication, the thickness of oil film increases with the increase of oil viscosity, but the friction also increases with the increase of oil viscosity. The lubricating oil with too low viscosity is not easy to form a strong enough oil film, which will accelerate wear and shorten the service life of the parts. On the contrary, the viscosity of the lubricating oil is too high, which will increase the internal friction, increase the specific power of the compressor, resulting in increased power consumption and fuel consumption, and also form deposits in the piston ring groove, the air valve, and the exhaust channel. Therefore, choosing the right viscosity is the primary problem of the correct selection of compressor oil. Xi ‘an Jiaotong University has proved through tests that: using the same test conditions on the same type of compressor, the use of lower viscosity grades of oil than the use of high viscosity grades of oil can reduce the specific power of the compressor by about 10% at most, and the wear amount of parts is not significantly different. Therefore, under the premise of ensuring lubrication, the selection of the appropriate viscosity grade of oil has a very important impact on energy saving and the reliable operation of the compressor.
